POSITION SUMMARY

Employees of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia (Assembly) provide professional non-partisan services to support the democratic institution of Parliament and its members through procedural advice, administrative support and information services. The Assembly is an autonomous employer, separate from the administrative framework of B.C. government ministries and agencies.

The Parliamentary Education Office is seeking six creative, motivated and personable individuals for the auxiliary as-and-when position of Parliamentary Player.

Reporting to the Parliamentary Tour Officer, the Parliamentary Player is responsible for acting in outdoor travelling plays several times a day. Players will be responsible for interpreting two or three different characters in two different plays. In addition to performances, Players are required to spend a significant amount of time outside welcoming visitors to the Parliament Buildings, both in and out of character.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants must have:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited post-secondary institution during the Fall and/or Spring semesters of this school year.
  • Must have theatre, performance and/or interpretation experience.

Preference may be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience working with children or ESL students will be considered an asset.
