Role Description

Reporting to the Vice President of Human Resources, the Director of Learning and Organizational Development will play a vital role in shaping and driving the company's learning and development strategy. They will collaborate with various teams across the organization to ensure that all team members have access to quality training programs that align with our AIMS and business objectives. As a key member of our HR leadership team, they will be responsible for developing, implementing and monitoring a comprehensive learning and development framework, which includes onboarding, compliance training, leadership and management development, technical skills training and career development initiatives. Their role will be instrumental in assisting the business in identifying potential leaders and fostering their growth within the company.

As the Director of Learning and Organizational Development, they will have a proven track record of designing and delivering effective learning and development programs. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levels.

This role would be based in Vernon, BC and Relocation support available for successful candidate if needed.

Core Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements effective learning and development strategies that align with Kal Tire’s business objectives by collecting input from and providing subject matter expertise and guidance to senior management team.
  • Creates performance metrics, analyzes data and produces reports on the effectiveness of training programs.
  • Leads multiple teams of Technical Training, Learning Management, and Leadership & Development professionals; each team specializes in areas from developing and delivering quality training content for both online and in-person delivery methods, to managing the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships with key stakeholders, vendors, and subject matter experts to identify skill gaps, devise plans for upskilling current team members, and ensure alignment of regional talent and learning and development objectives with needs of the business.
  • Stays current with emerging trends and technologies in team member development and incorporate them into our training programs.
  • Manages the learning budget and ensure cost-effective delivery of training programs
  • Fosters a culture of continuous learning and development within the organization.
  • Partners with HRSS teams and business leaders to ensure a solid understanding of business priorities and challenges.
  • Links people and talent to business needs and guides leaders and local teams in prioritizing organization development to deliver business results.
  • Designs and delivers initiatives to accelerate team members at Kal Tire with priorities including – Team member experience, performance, early career, talent identification and assessment, succession planning, talent development, skill development and behaviours, etc.
  • Scans internally and externally for best practices and new ideas.

Work Experience
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in learning and organizational development
  • Progressive human resources and talent management experience.
  • Experience in a growth-oriented, fast-paced environment.
  • Relevant certifications in talent assessment tools and coaching certification would be an asset.
  • Experience in researching, designing, and implementing contemporary people practices such as talent identification, skills, performance management, development programs, and team member experience tools.
  • Experience in helping transform teams with a focus on new talent ideas and practices – skills, coaching, team member experience etc,
  • Experience with new platform and technology implementations.

Education
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field or a combination of education and experience in L&OD

Travel
  • Ability to travel within Canada and Internationally, as required
