Family Ties Association is an incorporated non-profit organization providing family-focused and strength-based services in Southern Alberta since 1990. Given the current need of the organization, Family Ties Association is currently seeking four individuals for a summer contract position to work within our Community Asset Groups Program.

Family Ties Association's Community Asset Group Program provides planned and tailored summer programming aimed at strengthening, empowering, and supporting youth. Each year our team creates a schedule of events and activities for youth aged 8 to 17. Our youth present with a wide range of varying needs including, but not limited to, developmental delays, mental health concerns and, trauma, etc. Successful candidates will be afforded a work environment that provides career related experience for multiple disciplines including Social Work, Child and Youth Care, Psychology, Education, Sociology and Human Services. Tasks and Responsibilities

As a member of the Community Asset Groups Program your role will be to plan, organize and implement appropriate activities for youth and children in and around the Lethbridge, Alberta community. The successful applicant’s role will be to work alongside colleagues and the program supervisor to deliver safe and appropriate programming during employment.

Skills and Abilities:

Successful Candidates are required to have some knowledge in utilization of Microsoft Word and Office 365. Individuals must possess ability to engage in problem solving, de-escalation tactics, leisure activities, mentorship, and role-modelling. Candidates are preferred to have skills in working with youth and a basic understanding of mental health, child development and learning.

Preferred: Enrolled in or graduated from a human services related field, with prior experience working with youth.

Drivers License: Valid Class 5 drivers license with opportunity to obtain Class 4 (must be off of GDL)

Eligible Participants: To be eligible applicants must:

· Be 22 years or older, and returning to school in the fall;

· Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment; and,

· Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Must be able to obtain a clean criminal record check, clean welfare check, clean driver's abstract and a claims-free experience letter from your insurance company.

Possibility of working past August 19th for the right candidate.

Salary: $17.00 per hour

Schedule:

  • Day shift
  • Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:
Family Ties has extra cleaning protocols in place and procedures for COVID 19 precautions. Staff will be trained in COVID 19 procedures and screening.

  • Lethbridge, AB T1H 0H5: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (required)
