Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals, and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. Alberta Infrastructure owns and manages a large portfolio of lands, including the Transportation and Utility Corridors (TUC) in Edmonton and Calgary, and is responsible for managing of numerous lease files across the province. Role

Reporting to a Project Manager within the Project Delivery group in the Property Management Branch, the Project Delivery Intern will assist in and manage the delivery of Major Maintenance, Operations and Tenant Improvement Projects and Consultant Investigations in Government owned and leased facilities.

The Project Delivery Intern will participate in the planning and scope definition of all projects. This role will define the project requirements with clients; co-ordinates the activities of in-house team members, private-sector consultants, contractors, and ensures that project scope, time, cost, and quality objectives are met. Manage multi-discipline projects involving Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, and Electrical disciplines. Ensures all phases of project activities comply with Government and Ministry legislation, policies, guidelines, standards, and procedures.

The main responsibilities for the Intern Project Delivery Intern include (but are not limited to):

  • Assist in establishing project teams and provide leadership and management to successfully deliver projects.
  • Collaborate in establishing project scope and parameters to meet requirements of applicable Ministry and Government standards and guidelines.
  • Manage project expenditures through all stages of project implementation to ensure maximum value within approved budget.
  • Ensure project schedules and administrative controls for projects are established, maintained, and monitored.
  • Confirm design, tender and construction processes for projects are managed appropriately.
  • Assist in ensuring executive director and director are supported in decision-making and achieving brand & division mandate and goals.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements:

  • Two-year technical diploma in Architecture, Engineering, or a related field plus 2 years of experience in project management.


Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

  • 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
  • 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.


Assets:

  • Certification as a construction administrator or project manager.
  • Experience with planning and managing principles and techniques, including contract management and construction documentation.
  • Knowledge of or experience with Provincial and National building standards and codes and other job-site safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of or experience with applicable legislation, acts, and regulations (i.e. Public Works Act, Occupational Heath and Safety Act, Alberta Building codes, Contract Law, etc).

Salary

$2,268.66 - $2,971.22 bi-weekly ($59,212 - $77,548/year)
