Job Summary
The successful candidate will perform accounts payable tasks related to Pensioner payroll,
Employee pension contribution payouts (Refunds, closures). Also the candidate will be responsible for accounts receivable tasks such as: recording and reconciling all contributions from the plan sponsors. In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for all accounting and record keeping related to the above. The successful candidate must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and also be able to work well in a team environment with interdepartmental and external members/staff.

General Accountabilities

  • Process Bi-weekly/Monthly payments related pensioner payroll payment deductions, refund of TTC employee pension contributions, Family Law valuation payments and closure payments
  • Prepare and distribute payment vouchers
  • Prepare any government remittances and filings as required
  • Reconcile all accounts and vendor balances related to Pensioner Payroll and Refunds as well as working with appropriate parties to clear any discrepancies
  • Check figures, postings and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy and proper general ledger posting accounts
  • Incumbent will be the main point of contact for questions regarding payment of pensioner payroll and any member payouts
  • Process stop payments and reissues when requested by Pension Administration department
  • Maintain financials records related to payables reconciliations
  • Interdepartmental reconciliations related to tax payments, monthly payments etc.
  • Create and distribute all reports required/requested by the Pension Administration department
  • Reconcile contributions received with plan sponsors on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
  • Assist with monthly closing and prepare payables related reports for board meetings.
  • Assist with TTCPP Annual Audit
  • Incumbent will be required to back fill for Accounting Analyst level II
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Job Qualifications

  • Education: College Diploma or Undergraduate Degree in a relevant discipline
  • Accounting, business administration or related discipline
  • Experience: 2-5 years of relevant experience in accounts payable, accounts receivable, accounting or business administration role

Skills

  • Good understanding of general accounting principles
  • Proficient in all Microsoft applications
  • Has prior experience working with accounting software
  • Sage Intact would be considered an asset
  • Excellent problem solving skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Able to performs tasks with minimal supervision
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic understanding of defined benefit pension plans is an asset
