Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience:

• extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching all areas of this assignment
• knowledge of, and demonstrated application of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy, teaching practices, and evaluation/assessment/reporting procedures as applied to all areas of this assignment
• demonstrated knowledge and understanding of adolescent development and commitment to Middle School Philosophy
• demonstrated ability and experience teaching middle school English, Social Studies, Math, Science, and PE
• demonstrated ability to motivate and provide success for students experiencing difficulties with learning English, Social Studies, Math and Science key concepts
• demonstrated experience intervening, supporting, and motivating struggling learners through a Response to Intervention (RTI) lens, particularly in literacy and numeracy key concepts
• demonstrated use of highly successful instructional strategies in the classroom
• demonstrated ability and experience team teaching and intervening for struggling learners
• demonstrated ability and commitment to Indigenizing curriculum using the First Peoples Principles of Learning
• training and demonstrated ability to utilize assessment tools such as, but not limited to: Keymath, Peabody and WIAT would be an asset
• demonstrated ability or commitment to integrating technology into day to day lessons
• demonstrated ability to set and clarify learning standards and to establish effective classroom procedures and relationships
• demonstrated commitment to and involvement in collaborative teams
• demonstrated understanding and knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s current philosophy for evaluation/assessment and reporting procedures particularly formative and summative assessment
• demonstrated excellent classroom management, behaviour management and classroom organization skills
• demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and adjust instructional practices accordingly
• demonstrated high energy and interpersonal skills
• proven ability to inspire confidence and self-worth in adolescents
