About the Role
The Project Manager will be a key member of the Community Energy Planning team, responsible for leading the development of new, innovative district energy solutions that deliver low and zero carbon energy solutions to large, master-planned, mixed-use developments and campuses. We are seeking a hardworking individual who is passionate about decarbonization and has a desire to play an active role in the transition to clean energy.
Duties & Responsibilities
This role focuses on the early stages of development, from initial meetings through preliminary design, demonstration of the business case, and contract negotiations. Primary responsibilities of this position include the following:
Manage complex, multi-disciplinary district energy projects with many stakeholders
Manage new opportunities from initial meeting to deal close
Evaluate various energy sources and design options (including plant locations, technologies, building connection requirements, etc.) to develop district energy system designs
Work with the engineering team to develop designs for new district energy systems
Work with the construction and operations teams to develop cost estimates for new systems over their lifetime
Manage development of energy analysis and operating models
Work with the financial team on the inputs and structure for financial models to develop the business case for new district energy systems
Manage stakeholder relationships
Write proposals and develop presentations for new district energy systems for various stakeholders, such as real estate developers, governments, universities, and existing building owners in both informal processes and formal RFP processes
Relationships (Internal/External Stakeholders)
Collaborate with developers and municipalities to develop new and creative business models for accelerating low carbon and net zero district energy development
Work with cross-functional teams, including the engineering, construction, financial, commercial, and operations teams
Manage consulting teams
Liaise with incentive funding organizations and manage funding applications
Desired Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Ability to deliver on demanding projects, requiring leadership, critical judgement, analytical thinking, and creative problem-solving
Ability to develop and drive project schedules
Experience leading multi-disciplinary projects with many interdependencies
Good communication skills with the ability to develop and manage client relationships
Experience writing successful proposals and delivering presentations
Experience working in a technical field with the ability to direct engineers when developing concept designs to optimize the business case for our solutions
Ability to deal with ambiguity and plan out the best path forward
Ability to work with technical teams to develop financially feasible solutions
Post-secondary education completed in energy, engineering, or sustainability, or equivalent
5-7 years of experience or more in energy and/or project development
Ability to work in a dynamic environment which requires a high level of flexibility and adaptability.
