about this team

Global Retail Design Innovation (GRDI) collaborates and co-creates with internal business units to develop, innovate and evolve retail experiential concepts, retail store design, and retail fixture design that embody the unique lululemon experience. The team is responsible for the establishment, governance and maintenance of global store design principles, guidelines and prototypical templates to ensure consistent design ques reinforce a strong experiential brand identity. Through clarity, focus and coordination we support the business strategies and elevate the guest experience through retail design innovation.

As a Manager Retail Design Innovation, you will be responsible for taking projects from Concept Design Development to Roll-out phase.

a day in the life: what you’ll do
  • Taking strategic direction from the Sr Director; create visual communications and fixture & experience prototypes, that represent Global Retail Design
  • Develop Design Strategies outlining how the design team will create and develop deliverables that transform concepts into innovative designs and experiences
  • Manage a small and nimble team of designers, evaluating individual design deliverables and how they support successful actualization of ‘the brief’
  • Deliver critical feedback as well as encouragement and celebration
  • Through collaboration with cross-functional partners, work through the innovation process from opportunity identification, concept development, prototyping, piloting and transition to roll-out and scale of new retail design strategies and concepts
  • Manage communication between cross-functional teams to ensure fixture & experience co-creation and collaboration meets desired outcome
qualifications
  • Degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, or Interior Design
  • 8 minimum years experience in design related field, with a focus on 3D retail fixture design, and managing a team of creatives
  • Multi-disciplinary team management experience preferred
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software, Solidworks, Rhinoceros 3D, Adobe Creative Suite
  • Strong workshop skills with abilities to use power tools, as well as specialized equipment like 3D printers, CNC routers and Laser Cutters
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and construction means, methods and materials
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication skills for various management types and levels
  • Strong organizational skills and the capability to multitask and handle multiple projects in different phases at same time with ability to drive work and ensure deadlines are met
