JOB SUMMARY

Aurora Cannabis Inc. is seeking a self-motivated individual to help lead the Aurora Ridge Quality team. Reporting to the Director of Quality Assurance, the Quality Assurance Manager, will be responsible for the day to day management and oversight of the Quality team and Quality Management System, enforcing Good Production Practices, Good Manufacturing Practices, and continuous improvement.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Represent QA as an ambassador for regulatory compliance with respect to GMP, Cannabis Regulations and company’s Policies and SOPs.
  • Perform QAP duties with respect to GMP, Cannabis Regulations and company’s Policies and SOPs.
  • Responsible for Quality Assurance compliance and management to the regulations (such as Health Canada, Good Manufacturing Practice, Clinical trials) and Quality Control.
  • Lead, mentor and coach a team of direct reports and Quality employees within the site Quality team.
  • Be a leader in Quality be an active participant to improve and communicate a quality culture throughout the organization.
  • Hire and provide training to new personnel and/or ensure training orientation is carried out.
  • Support all corporate Quality programs and ensure implementation and on-going monitoring at the facility.
  • Release batches, perform recalls, approval of products quality and report adverse events.
  • Identify and implement improvement initiatives to help increase the effectiveness and efficiency and quality of processes.
  • Develop, update and maintain documents within the Quality Management System.
  • Manage external audits, including assurance of reporting, and corrective action completion and follow up.
  • Understand and interpret microbial, chemical contaminants and scientific results against acceptable tolerance limits.
  • Project planning, execution and on time delivery of Quality tasks with other stakeholders in the organization.
  • Participate in the oversight, tracking and trending of Key Performance Indicators and metrics.
  • Establish performance standards, procedures, and control (such as audits and preventive control plans, risk management) to meet regulatory compliance.
  • Establish and oversee the maintenance of administrative functions required for operational effectiveness of the Quality department, such as budgeting and resource planning.
  • Represent or delegate Quality Assurance priorities on cross-functional project teams at the site level.
  • Support the investigation, review and tracking of QMS (customer complaints, non-conforming reports, CAPA, MOC, DEV, risk assessment, OOS, OOT etc.).
  • Participate in new initiatives, new product development, in-house quality projects as required.
  • Oversee investigations of non-conforming products and deviations from approved procedures.
  • Train and delegate QAP/AQAP responsibilities to the qualified QA person(s) as required..
  • Participate and timely completion of corporate initiatives (Goals, KPIs, training etc..).
  • Support Health and Safety department’s initiatives and programs as required
  • Advise QA leadership of any situation that may need attention and warrant management involvement.
  • Other duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • (5) Five or more years of Quality and Management experience in the pharmaceutical/nutraceutical, medical laboratory science related industry or combined work experience in another industry will be considered.
  • A Canadian (or assessed as equivalent) B.Sc. degree or equivalent in an applicable discipline of science (chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, medicine, horticulture, medical laboratory science or related).
  • Previous experience in a leadership role is required/mandatory – strong people-management skills are essential.
  • Ability to implement and maintain a Quality Management System..
  • Fluency in MS Office is mandatory.
  • Competency of technological writing (SOPs, APQR Reports, Investigation Summary, Project Plan)
  • Must be a proactive leader and an innovative thinker when making operational recommendations.
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to speak and write in English.
  • Be eligible to be approved as a QAP by Health Canada.
