About Mount Milligan Mine

Located approximately 155 kilometres northwest of Prince George in central BC, the Mount Milligan Mine is a conventional truck-shovel open-pit copper and gold mine and concentrator with a 60,000 tpd capacity copper flotation processing plant.

Mount Milligan operates with comfortable camp accommodations equipped with private washrooms, TV, Wi-Fi, an onsite gym, and other recreational activities. Bus transportation to and from site is provided free of charge from several locations within the region.

Mount Milligan promotes a drug and alcohol-free workplace and has adopted a zero-tolerance policy with respect to alcohol or unauthorized drugs on site.

About the Opportunity

Centerra currently has an opportunity for a full-time Electrical Engineer - Infrastructure to join our Mount Milligan Mine operations site. This is a camp-based position, with a rotation of 7 or 14 days on / 7 or 14 days off, with a 12-hour daily schedule.

Reporting to the Site Services Superintendent, you will be responsible for the electrical engineering scope within the projects and infrastructure department. In this role you will be involved in electrical & automation design, project management, and mining. You will operate within a culture committed to safety, as well as environmentally and socially sustainable operations.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and implementing electrical designs and design standards across various projects
  • Providing electrical technical support within the departments, external consultants, and contractors
  • Managing small multidisciplinary projects from conceptual to detailed engineering, while supporting construction and commissioning
  • Preparing equipment specifications and tender documents for procurement of equipment, including expediting orders to facilitate installation and construction
  • Preparing, writing, and presenting technical reports on a regular basis

About You

To qualify for the Electrical Engineer - Infrastructure role, you must have a Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, as well as proven experience as an electrical generalist engineer in an industrial setting.

As our ideal candidate, you will have experience in electrical & automation design, project management, and mining. The following will be critical to successfully performing this role:

  • Strong knowledge of applicable codes and standards such as the Canadian Electrical Code, the Mines Act, and CSA M421 (Use of Electricity in Mines)
  • Strong technical knowledge about various areas of electrical engineering, such as electrical distribution, grounding, lighting, instrumentation, automation, motor control, etc
  • Experience with load flow analysis, short-circuit analysis, protection device coordination, and arc flash analysis
  • Previous experience working in the mining industry in a project management or engineering role
  • Registration with EGBC as an EIT or P.Eng (asset)
  • PMP Certification (asset)
