Position Details

Vanee Livestock Marketing Inc. is accepting applications for the position of Financial Administrator – Cattle. A basic understanding of the cattle industry would be an asset but is not necessary. Reporting to the Financial
Controller, this position is responsible for the day-to-day accounting transactions/operations of the Cattle
Division. This position performs complex accounting calculations and analytical functions therefore, an accounting background is preferred as well as proficiency in the use of Excel. Interruptions and switching gears are common and therefore the ability to prioritize tasks as well as strong organizational skills are a requirement.

Qualifications

  • University Degree and/or College Diploma majoring in Accounting or equivalent experience in the accounting field.
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years related accounting experience with the ability to demonstrate the following: o Advanced computer skills o Advanced Excel skills o Recognizes the impact of transactions on the financial statements

Primary Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of the Cattle Division including but not limited to: o Completing fat cattle returns, all steps from start to finish. o Paying out purchases and preparing feeder cattle invoices. o Sending out faxes, emails and mailing invoices to customers.

Lethbridge AB, T1H 6T8 o Filing invoices and returns appropriately. o Processing of any cattle deals that will be provided by the buyers. o Updating and writing out cattle contracts for Feeder and Fat cattle o Processing purchases and sales of cattle inventory o Reconciling cattle inventory o Booking and Recording FX currency money o Bank deposits o Accounts Receivable (including collections) o Reconciling accounts to ensure all transactions are processed correctly. o

  • Cross-training in the Truck Wash Division to cover for holidays, sick days, etc. o Assisting customers with key fobs for washes o Billing out washes to customers o Providing receipts to customers as requested
  • Accounts Payable
  • Other Duties as assigned by the Financial Controller

Conditions of Work

Hours of work: 8am to 5pm M – F, 1-hour unpaid lunch

Overtime: some overtime will be required during the months of Sep – Dec since this is our busy season.
Overtime can be banked and used during our slower months (summer months) or paid out on the current pay period.
