Serve as a special needs resource consultant to early childhood settings to support children 0-12 years of age with a variety of extra supports needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in Early Childhood Studies, plus additional course work or training related to supporting young children with special needs (e.g Autism Spectrum Disorder and Social Behaviour and Sensory/Motor Development).
  • Master’s degree in Early Childhood Studies or related area would be considered equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in the field of early childhood education, including experience working with young children (birth- 12 years) with special needs and their families in early learning environments such as: Child Care, Early On Centres, Drop-In Programs, Respite Programs, Specialized Agencies / Services.
  • Experience in consultation and teaching adults would be an asset.
  • Candidates must pass a medical and be free of contagious disease in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements and maintain appropriate immunizations, including providing proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 (including any recommended boosters/additional doses), subject to required human rights accommodation. Should a candidate be unable to vaccinate for bona fide human rights related reasons as protected by the Ontario Human Rights Code, Community Living Toronto will assess whether or not accommodation is possible without undue hardship based on the obligations of this position.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identifies and liaise with community services available to children and their families in the area of Early Childhood Services.
  • Provides support services to child, family and community settings.
  • Promote public awareness of Community Living Toronto and ConnectABILITY.
  • Collaborating with other geographic networks and community agencies in the identification, development, implementation and evaluation of the training needs of staff, parents and others.
  • Participates as a member of the intake team (internal and external).
  • Providing recommendations to community settings and familiar re: strategies for enhancing child and/ or family development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $52,523.00 per year
