Job Summary:

The Director of Quality Assurance is responsible to coordinate, organize and lead the Quality Assurance (QA) department and develop QA standards that are followed in the Organization by bringing the Operational policies into reality.

The Director will work with management and staff to communicate the expectations of a consistent Quality Assurance Process within the Sioux Lookout First Nations Health Authority. Tools will be developed to monitor and report on the current standards and data will be used to implement plans for training and coaching staff. Over time the Director will lead the development and monitor of performance measures with each department.

Salary Range $106,911 to $137,600 per annum

The Director of Quality Assurance will work with staff and managers throughout the organization to ensure that a quality management system is in place and functioning to the standards set by the Board. Tools will be developed and used to monitor the quality assurance process against the standards of excellence set out. The Director will identify errors that exist in the organization and make recommendations on solutions and put corrective action plans in place in order to correct them.

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable legislation, regulations and SLFNHA Operational Policies and Procedures.
  • Promote the standards of excellence that must be followed by establishing guidelines, and directives to be used as indicators for data collection.
  • Develop, and implement coaching and training on the expectations of the Organization that will assist with the corrective action plans in the future.
  • Using the QA process as a means to identify errors that exist, the Director will develop tools to monitor the improvement of the QA process, to ensure that the expected outcome is being attained.
  • Provide solutions (corrective action plans) to management that will work to correct errors found in order to ensure that policies and procedures are followed.
  • Provide reports to, Senior Management and the Board if required.
  • Any other duties that are deemed necessary by the Chief Financial Officer or Board.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Post Secondary Education in HR or Business Administration
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in HR or Business management required.
  • Certification in quality control is an asset
  • Ability to speak a First Nation language used in the SLFNHA catchment area is considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through implementing change
  • Proven project management skills required.
  • Able to make sound business decisions and evidence based recommendations to senior management.
  • Thorough knowledge of the methods and procedures used in the successful development of an organizational Quality Assurance development program.
  • Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills.
  • A well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
  • Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills
  • Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe products and e-mail required.
  • Able to build and maintain lasting relationships with corporate departments, key stakeholders, and employees.
  • Ability to follow through and complete overlapping projects.
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.
  • Travel may be required.
  • Ability to conduct presentations.
  • Manual dexterity is required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
