Position Summary

In accordance with established vision and values of the organization, the Patient Care Aide works under the functional direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse and in cooperation with interdisciplinary team members to assist in the delivery of client care. Following established care plans provides personal care; bathes, grooms, dresses, assists with meals and oral hygiene and provides assistance in the delivery of nursing care; vital signs, documents on patient’s chart and responds to call bells/alarms. Observes and monitors clients’ progress, symptoms and behavioural changes and reports significant observations. Utilizes established lifting /safety techniques and uses appropriate equipment to assist patients with positioning, activation and transportation. Understands the importance of and maintains a clean and safe environment for clients and staff. Performs other related duties as assigned.
New Wage: As of April 1, 2023, the new wage is: $28.74/hour
Stuart Lake Hospital is a six acute care bed facility with six additional long-term care beds. The Hospital serves the community of Fort St James as well as the First Nation’s Communities of Takla, Yekooche, Nak’azdli, and Tl’azt’en (Binche and Tachie). The hospital has 24/7 emergency, diagnostic, laboratory, palliative care and a pharmacy. It offers full and part time physicians as well as visiting specialists.
Fort St. James is located on the southeast shore of Stuart Lake. The population of the Fort St. James area is 4,500 (2021) including the rural areas and First Nations.
