As a member of the dynamic Source Atlantic Finance team in Saint John, NB the Staff Accountant will be responsible for providing the management team with financial information while maintaining financial records & reports, preparing journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and assisting with the budget and close processes. In this role, the Staff Accountant is a valuable participant in our journey to improve profitability, reduce risks and drive efficiencies.

This is a great opportunity for an individual working towards or planning to pursue their Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation as a part of the CPA pre-approved program route. Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and record daily bank transactions
• Prepare bank reconciliations
• File monthly sales taxes
• Review monthly Branch P&L’s and serve as a finance liaison with the assigned branches on all matters of financial reporting
• Assist in month-end closing reviews, procedures, and compliance reporting
• Drive efficiencies aimed at improving accuracy, shortening month-end closing cycle and reduction of manual entries
• Assist in budget preparations
• Participate in ad-hoc activities as required

Qualified Applicants:

• University degree with a major in accounting
• Highly detailed oriented
• Comfortable with aggregating and analyzing large volume of data
• Strong sense of process ownership and accountability
• Effective time management and analytical skills
• Advanced user of Microsoft Excel
• 2+ years’ experience in financial accounting would be considered an asset
• Enrolled in CPA program would be considered an asset
• Knowledge of Power Microsoft tools would be considered an asset
