Heritage Park has an opening for a permanent full-time Selkirk Restaurant Manager. The Selkirk Manager is responsible for the management, supervision, administration and efficient operation of the front of house operations of the Selkirk Restaurant and executes the preparation and cooking of menus and food items for the Selkirk restaurant. The Selkirk Restaurant is open year-round and offers a fresh and inspired menu that takes diners on a culinary trip from coast to coast.

Duties & Responsibilities

§ Oversees the recruitment, supervision, orientation, training and evaluation of all front of house Selkirk Grille staff.

§ Develops models and reinforces professional selling, high customer service and food handling standards.

§ Schedules staff to ensure adequate service levels while being cost efficient and adhering to budgets.

§ Ensures that staff’s quality of product knowledge, food service and uniform standards meet or exceed established standards set by Heritage Park and the high expectations of guests.

§ Assigns daily shift tasks and side duties to staff.

§ Administers weekly payroll, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.

§ Handles and maintains the online reservation system for the Selkirk Grille including table inventories, black-out dates, special promotions and guest feedback.

§ Ensures that table settings and the general condition of the restaurant and its operating equipment are up to standard and are in good order.

§ Ensures serving areas and equipment are properly cleaned on a daily basis and are well maintained.

§ Oversees the greeting and seating of guests, creating a positive and welcoming impression and ensuring prompt, efficient and courteous service.

§ Handles guest questions and complaints.

§ To ensure a seamless operation, assumes a variety of roles as required including expeditor, server, bartender, hosts and supports staff.

§ Enforces strict adherence to all relevant Alberta Health Services and AGLC guidelines.

§ Acts as the Selkirk Grille’s sommelier and curates the wine and beverage lists.

§ Requisitions all front of house sales and serving supplies and liquor inventory items from the Warehouse.

§ Conducts thorough and accurate monthly and annual inventories in accordance with Heritage Park standards.

§ Ensures that all cash handling and point of sale procedures are adhered to.

§ Works with the Green Room to ensure tips and gratuities are distributed as per Heritage Park procedure.

§ Liaises between Serving Staff and Kitchen Staff on a regular basis to ensure clear communication, maximum efficiency and promotes a collaborative work environment.

§ Programs menu items, pricing and specialty promotion buttons into the POS system.

§ Provides support to the Banquets and Dining Services departments as needed and works collaboratively by efficiently and properly sharing staff and transferring products and supplies.

§ Coordinates and oversees Selkirk Grille branded ticketed events and special themed dining experiences.

§ Collaborates with Marketing on promotional business building ideas and on all print and menu collateral.

§ Acquires and maintains a sound knowledge of Heritage Park, its services and any special events taking place and delivers interpretive information and programming relevant to the Selkirk Grille.

§ Attends relevant Park meetings as scheduled.

§ Other duties as assigned.

Skills:

The successful incumbent must display excellent leadership skills and a high level of tact and sensitivity when dealing with customers. Must have strong customer service values, together with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Applicant must be self-motivated and take pride in one’s work.

Special Clothing and Equipment:

The position requires a uniform which will be provided by Heritage Park. Appropriate footwear as designated by the Costume Room of Heritage Park will be provided by the employee. Functional business attire is also acceptable when appropriate.

Hours of Work:

40 hours per week. Weekend and evening work is required on an ongoing basis.
