Position Overview

Reporting to the Environment Team Leader, Operations and working a 2 week on and 2 week off schedule at the Ekati mine site, NT, this is a seasonal position (from March to July), that assists with the environmental and wildlife monitoring programs at the Ekati Diamond Mine. The position is primarily field work and may include wildlife monitoring, bird monitoring or other environmental compliance program support.


Job Duties/Responsibilities


  • Monitoring and management of bird monitoring at Ekati as part of the mining plan.
  • Monitoring of wildlife (caribou and other wildlife) to support Ekati’s Wildlife Program compliance.
  • Review and follow relevant work instructions and participate in safety meetings and complete Personal Safety Cards daily.
  • Assist full time staff and contractors with daily field work for seasonal environmental and wildlife monitoring programs.
  • Assist with remote field work; often under inclement weather conditions.
  • Be comfortable working out on the land, out of a boat and traveling by helicopter.
  • Class 5 Driver's license required.

Additional Information


Arctic provides travel to and from the Ekati mine site out of Calgary, Yellowknife, and other northern fly points.

Employees need to be fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved COVID-19 vaccine.
