The Research and Development Manager will manage and implement various research projects, and have expertise and understanding of research operations, standard operating procedures, laboratory diagnostic approaches and regulatory compliance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide expertise and guidance in the implementation and on-going review of the company’s Research and Development strategy, working closely with the senior leadership team
• Provide technical expertise on a variety of projects, ensuring validity, outcomes and cost are managed
• Determine the scope and strategy for Research and Development projects and allocate work and resources accordingly
• Consult with internal stakeholders to ensure project strategy is scientifically sound, technically feasible and will comply with SOP's and GMP's prior to committing to commercialization
• Provide technical staff with adequate instructions and coaching to ensure the correct execution of assigned tasks
• Responsible for project management, determining timelines and negotiating resource requirements for project work and assignment of resources to ensure the timely completion of work and delivery of results
• Review the compilation, evaluation, interpretation and reporting of experimental results to ensure the objectives of each project are met
• Manage scientific component and sourcing of partnership strategy and execution
• Provide scientific leadership, advice, oversight and coordination in developing the product specification and generating data
• Ensure high levels of stakeholder engagement throughout the process and ensure high degree of communication is maintained

Required Skills

• Proven experience in Research & Development, product development, formulation, innovation, or related roles with a preference to cannabis
• Experience with regulations and requirements such as cGMP, Cannabis Act, would be an asset
• Enthusiasm for research and hands-on experimentation and formulations
• Self-motivated problem solver and the drive to deliver objectives in a complex environment
• Ability to learn new products and processes quickly

Required Qualifications

• Masters or PhD, background in Analytical Chemistry or closely related field
