- Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- BScN preferred.
- Current BCLS certification.
- Current Certification in Venipuncture.
- 2 years recent surgical experience within the past 3 years.
- Health teaching skills that demonstrate broad surgical nursing knowledge.
- Excellent computer skills.
- Member of RNAO preferred.
- Satisfactory attendance.

ACCOUNTABILITIES (Major Responsibilities of the Position)
- Provision of nursing care to meet the Standards of Practice of College of Nurses.
- Collaboration within an interdisciplinary team to plan, implement, and evaluate patient care, involving the patient and family.
- Act as a liaison for patients/families with members of the health care team.
- Work collaboratively to identify and implement process improvements to better meet the needs of patients and families.
- Maintain a safe environment for staff, patients, and visitors.
- Participation in various hospital committees and quality improvement initiatives.
