We are seeking a Production Supervisor, who will coordinate workflow and support teams within/between various production departments of the plant, in order to produce efficiently and effectively.

The chosen candidate will be expected to achieve the highest level of quality, safety and effectiveness equipment availability of plant equipment at the lowest optimum sustainable maintenance cost, in compliance with H&S as well as environmental rules and regulations.

The Production Supervisor will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following tasks:

  • Develop, support, and motivate department personnel to perform their jobs while giving them opportunities to reach their peak potential in all areas.
  • Collaborate with H&S department to foster and promote a safety-focused work culture throughout the plant.
  • Provide discipline, coaching, and performance management to their teams as needed.
  • Supervise training and operational procedures of shift personnel both in the field as well as the control room.
  • Manage incoming raw materials, including working with contractors and plant personnel to ensure efficient handling and safe inventory levels.
  • Provide resources and guidance to ensure that all equipment is operated in compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
  • Report any safety or environmental issues acting upon such as required.
  • Co-ordinate department activities with other plant departments to minimize downtime, make efficient use of manpower, eliminate recurrent problems, and meet production schedules.
  • Develop and institute process improvements with various input from Process Engineer, Quality Control, and Production Manager.
  • Assist in the collection of field measurements to ensure that equipment is profiled, and process data is documented and analyzed.
  • Provide Coverage for vacation and filling in as required.
  • Provide coverage in the event of unforeseen vacancies by extending hours of work as necessary to allow continuous around the clock coverage.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

You will be directly supervising hourly personnel and carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the union agreement, the organization’s policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities will include training new employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to outside weather condition and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions not withstanding atmospheric conditions; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; risk of electric shock; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is loud.

Qualifications

  • Abilityto apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized form.
  • Extensive knowledge of cement technology and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with conflict management and proven interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Familiarity with machinery, pneumatic and electrical equipment and experience in an industrial setting.
  • Must be a motivational self-starter and display a strong sense of urgency to maintain operational functionality.
  • 2 years of Supervisory experience in a unionized environment is an asset.
