We currently have one (1) temporary part-time (56 hours bi-weekly) position available until April 28, 2023.
A permanent appointment may result from this temporary opportunity.
An eligibility list may be established for future temporary and/or permanent part-time vacancies.

Community Corrections Division of the Corrections Branch delivers programs and services to adult offenders or alleged offenders awaiting trial or sentencing, who are serving community based sentences of the court or conditional release from custody. The intent of these programs and services is to enhance public safety by assessing and managing the risk of the offender and providing intervention to change behaviour.

If you are a dedicated individual seeking a challenging and fulfilling role this maybe an exciting opportunity for you. As a Probation Officer, you report to the Local Manager and assist adults in conflict with the law by providing case management and case supervision of low risk sentenced offenders. You also supervise clients released on bail and assist the Adult Probation Officer in the supervision of medium and high-risk offenders. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated Probation Officer who is looking to be a part of a diverse team.

Overnight travel to remote locations and working outside typical work hours may be required and a valid BC driver’s license is required.

In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

  • Completion of two years of credit towards a degree or education equivalency (60 credits of post- secondary education towards a diploma or degree will be accepted as equivalent to a two year diploma).

  • Successful completion of the Adult Probation Officer pre-requisite course (CORR1000).

  • Valid Class 5 B.C. driver’s license. A valid Class 7 may be considered.

  • Possess computer and keyboard skills (minimum 30 wpm).

This position has been designated as a position of trust and therefore, requires enhanced security screening as a condition of employment. The checks include a police information check and fingerprints by the RCMP or police, a Criminal Records Review Act check and JUSTIN and CORNET provincial database checks. New criminal records checks will be conducted periodically and at least every five years.
