Position Title: HR Student Intern - Paid Summer Internship

Reports To: HR Manager.

Job Summary: We are seeking an enthusiastic HR Student Intern to join our team and assist with various HR functions. The intern will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various aspects of HR including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and compliance. This is an excellent opportunity for a student pursuing a degree in HR or related field to gain practical experience in a professional setting.

Responsibilities: Assist with recruitment and hiring process including creating job postings, screening resumes, scheduling interviews, and conducting reference checks • Support onboarding process for new hires including conducting orientation sessions and creating employee files • Assist with employee relations matters including investigations and documentation • Support compliance efforts including maintaining employee files • Provide vacation coverage of HR and Payroll & Benefits managers by being the HR site representative in their absence. Assist with HR-related administrative tasks as needed.

HRIS Project Administrator: As part of Liberty Tire Recycling’s ESG Initiatives your special assignment will be to champion the project of digitizing our employee personnel files from paper to our HRIS. This challenge will bring the reward of hands-on experience to achieve a metric we could not accomplish without your support. We estimate this will take 275 hours. Over the course of your 3-4 months contract you will be dedicating approximately 20-25 hours of a 40-hour work week.

Requirements: • Currently enrolled in a college or university pursuing a degree in Human Resources or related field • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications • Experience with HRIS or Payroll Software (BambooHR and Payworks) is an asset. Previous HR or administrative experience a plus, but not required.

Duration: 3-4 months, May-September 2024

Hours: Full-time (40 hours/ 5 days a week)

Location: Onsite at Liberty Tire Recycling – Annacis Island Delta, BC

Compensation: $20-22 per hour.
