Make an impact in your community as a Police Records Clerk in our Community Safety Department. Using your reliability and commitment to accuracy, you will assist with clerical functions within the RCMP, specifically managing mail and traffic tickets. Your organizational abilities will be given room to shine as you’ll be responsible for a multitude of tasks including managing traffic tickets, performing data entry, searching for detailed information in response to requests for information, cross-checking files to ensure appropriate data is retrieved, organizing and distributing mail, processing and following up on courier requests, assisting the records room with filing tasks, occasionally operating a switchboard, and other various tasks. Your trustworthy nature will be essential as you’ll also need to classify documentation of a sensitive and confidential manner. Performs related work as required.


To qualify, you’ll need to have graduated high school, including or supplemented by commercial typing courses plus some related experience preferably in a Police Department, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. You should have sound knowledge of clerical and recordkeeping methods and procedures and of business English, spelling and arithmetic. Some knowledge of computer applications such as PRIME as it applies to the work is also ideal. You’re excellent at preparing, maintaining and retrieving a variety of records and files and are capable of doing thorough searches for requested information. You’ve also got strong people skills with an ability to communicate with colleagues and members of the public alike. You should also have the ability to operate a computer terminal to perform data entry and retrieval duties, as well as a familiarity with operating standard office equipment.
