The Avon Maitland District School Board is inviting applications for Permanent Part-Time (20 hours per week) and Full-Time (40 hours per week) Basic Custodian positions throughout Huron and Perth Counties.

The Basic Custodian duties may include:

Building Maintenance

• Change lights;
• Shovel snow and operate snow blower;
• Clean and inspect roof;
• Operate grass cutting equipment;
• Perform minor repairs;
• Conduct health and safety checks; and
• Service roof top unit.

Building Cleaning

• Operate and maintain all equipment; and
• Perform all minor and major cleaning.

Requirements/Education

• Minimum grade 12 diploma or GED equivalent

The ideal candidate should possess:

• The ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb stairs, ladders and scaffolding;
• Mechanical aptitude with experience in one or more of the trade disciplines eg. plumbing, electrical, carpentry;
• Exemplary interpersonal, professional and organizational skills;
• The ability to use a computer (e.g. Google Suite; Smart Find, etc.)
• Experience in handling machinery (e.g. buffing machine, lawn mowers, snowblowers); and,
• Knowledge of proper usage of hazardous chemicals and cleaning supplies.

Start Date: As soon as possible
Hours of Work: Part-time (20 hours per week) or Full-Time (40 hours per week), 12 months per year
Rate of Pay: $21.21 - $21.66 per hour as per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement
Shift Premium Allowance: As per the UNIFOR Collective Agreement
Pension Plan: Defined pension plan through the Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System (OMERS)
Health & Dental Benefits: Extended and Supplementary Health, Paramedical Services, Dental, including Orthodontics, Out of Province/Country
