SPG specializes in project delivery on large portfolios and consequent datasets, with clients often requiring 100+ building energy models for their regional assets. We combine data collected from energy auditing with industry experience to determine a series of impactful, actionable projects that offer significant energy consumption and cost savings. With all energy reduction and climate mitigation strategies, SPG provides clients with the tools and learning collateral to summarize proposed project capital costs, applicable incentives, estimated energy consumption/cost savings, estimated GHG emission reductions, and key financial indicators.

Yukon First Nations Participation

SPG is seeking one or two qualified and ‘eager to learn’ First Nations participant(s) to support the site assessment, analysis, and reporting throughout the duration of these projects. This individual should be familiar with civil engineering, energy management, or building sciences.

Interested individuals within a technical degree will also be considered.

SPG is committed to providing short-term paid work experience hours to support in the execution of two projects undertaken by the Yukon Government. These two projects will require the following:

  • Project #1: Yukon University – Building Condition Assessments o Required commitment of 48.0 hours / flexible from February 6th to March 3rd o Hours must be completed within the (Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays) but do not require a minimum commitment value per day but must

commit 12 hours per week. o Once the participant is confirmed, SPG will provide a template to track committed hours to the project. All hours must be submitted on a bi-weekly basis, by the Monday preceding bi-weekly pay, and signed off by the Energy

Team Manager. Payment shall be issued on a bi-weekly pay schedule basis as well. o The hourly rate offered for this role is $40.63 / hour.

  • Project #2: Yukon Government – ISO 50001 Gap Analysis o Required commitment of 43.0 hours / flexible from February 6th to April 28th o Hours must be completed within the (Monday to Friday, excluding statutory holidays) but do not require a minimum commitment value per day but must

commit 2-3 hours per week. o Once the participant is confirmed, SPG will provide a template to track committed hours to the project. All hours must be submitted on a bi-weekly basis, by the Monday preceding bi-weekly pay, and signed off by the Energy

Team Manager. Payment shall be issued on a bi-weekly pay schedule basis as well. o The hourly rate offered for this role is $40.63 / hour.

In addition to the paid job experience, SPG will be able to provide the candidate(s) with some essential job skills training such as: o 30-45 minute Session on Resume Review o 30-45 minute Mock Interview & Follow Up Coaching Meeting

Project #1 Yukon University – Building Condition Assessment Project

Yastremski Associates Inc. o/a Sustainable Projects Group (SPG) has been awarded a project with the Yukon Government to complete Building Condition Assessments for the Yukon

University. The scope of work includes the site assessment, engineered analysis & schematic development, capital costing, and report deliverables for the following sites throughout the duration of the project: 3 a) General Site b) Yukon University Commons Wing c) Yukon University Academic-Instructional Wing d) Yukon University Trades and Technical Wing e) Gymnasium f) Dorm residence building g) Apartment residence building h) Mature residence i) New residence building

Expected Tasks

As of January 23rd, the final report deliverables (engineered reports, costing timelines, and final design schematics) are being completed by SPG’s team of engineers and analysts. The Yukon

Government has requested an energy audit report revision that includes recommendations determined from the Building Condition Assessment.

Tasks for the participant, in which SPG will provide training, include:

General Training (~3 hours)

  • Building Condition Assessments: Overall Process & Reporting
  • Building Component Inventory & Condition Analysis
  • Understanding Building Energy Efficiency

Yukon Energy Audit Revision (~45 hours)

  • Utility Bill Analysis & Outlier Detection
  • Technical Writing: Facility Descriptions & Energy Conservation Measures
  • Re-quote Energy Retrofit Measures using Estimating Database & Tools

Project #2 Yukon Government – ISO 50001 Gap Analysis

Yastremski Associates Inc. o/a Sustainable Projects Group (SPG) has been awarded a project with the Yukon Government to achieve ISO50001:2018 recognition. This includes the review and revision of daily procedures within the organization, including setting and communicating energy policies, goals, and targets, providing resources and training for employees, and performing regular management reviews. 4

Energy data must also be assessed and monitored, and action on energy conservation measures must be performed to minimize energy use. SPG will support the Government of the Yukon (GY) to incorporate these practices into their organization and set up an actionable Energy

Management System and Plan such that yearly energy savings and GHG emissions reductions can be achieved. While SPG will be at first heavily involved in establishing the processes, procedures, and plan, we will ensure GY is set up for success in later years by providing in-depth training and resource manuals.

Expected Tasks

This project is run on a weekly basis, consisting of three 45-min/1-hr meetings throughout the week and task delegations from the supervising P.Eng. The participant is expected to attend these meetings (or view the recorded meetings in their own time) and adapt to tasks as needed. This will support the participants understanding of working through the ISO 50001 registration step by step.

Due to the nature of the scope of work, tasks will be mainly restricted to 1-2 hour intervals per week (if any are explicitly assigned) and consist mainly of procedural writing, presentation development, and report writing review.
