Position description
The Meighen Centre is seeking an interested and qualified post-graduate to work with the office to support staff and students registered with the Meighen Centre.
This position is a learning opportunity and for a student who is a recent graduate. You must have a keen interest in university and student life, supporting diverse populations, and researching policy and procedure. Can you see yourself with a future in student services? Working as a member of the team in the Meighen Centre, the post-grad intern will assist staff in service delivery, utilize and support staff and students with software and other technologies, sit in on team meetings, make recommendations, and work collaboratively to create opportunities for students with disabilities.
The intern will play a key role in promoting the Meighen Centre to students via social media and other communication channels. They will help design outreach strategies to increase the visibility of the Office.
Depending on the intern's specific areas of interest, there may be the opportunity to take on at least one special project around program development or research.
Qualifications/skills
- A demonstrated interest in student affairs and/or the Meighen Centre
- Strong technical skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other multi-media design and editing tools
- Experience or interest in assistive technology
- An understanding of UDL (Universal Design for Learning)
- Familiarity with student accommodation procedures
- Excellent people skills and the desire to work with students
- Excellent written communications skills
- Strong attention to detail - experience in research, data collection and management an asset
