What you’ll do as a Millwright at HCM:

This department brings the many sub-assembled parts together on the vehicle. Major and minor components are installed in the painted body; for example, the engine, seats and the instrument panel. Doors are removed from the vehicle shortly after it enters the assembly line and they are sub-assembled in a separate area. The doors rejoin the vehicle shortly before the end of the line. Assist devices, padded flooring and other features provide an ergonomically friendly environment.

Mechanical, electrical, upholstered and other components including the engine are installed on the painted body in a carefully timed sequence as the vehicle is assembled.

  • Work in a fast-paced team-orientated flexible manufacturing environment
  • Perform preventative maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment under standardized procedures
  • Work order generation, investigation and countermeasure activity
  • Downtime call support; fast equipment recovery and decision making
  • Communication including daily shift meetings, feedback for planners and team leaders, activity assignment and coordination.
  • Preparation, scheduling and coordination of non-production activity
  • Parts sourcing including quote initiation, vendor negotiation, and part verification
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical equipment
  • New equipment specification review and support including commissioning checks, and risk assessments
  • Incident report creation including deep problem solving / root cause investigation
  • Ad hoc continuous improvement projects
  • Data entry in using Maximo

What we need from you:

  • Ontario or Inter-Provincial 426A/433A Millwright Certificate of Qualification
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience as a Licensed Millwright
  • Ability to work a three-shift rotation
  • Strong computer skills that include Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Willing and able to work plant shu downs, weekends and holidays – These are crucial times to our hands on the equipment
  • Willing and able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice – Manufacturing is ever-changing, and flexibility is key

It would be a whole lot cooler if you had experience:

  • Equipment fabrication and metal working skills (Hand tools, measurement tools, welding and assembly)
  • Robot programming experience
  • Equipment integration experience that includes installation, setup, troubleshooting and commissioning
  • Ability to read and troubleshoot from schematics and blueprints
  • Project management experience (Ability to manage contractors and construction projects)
  • Electrical aptitude (Sensor operation and can use basic electrical test equipment)
  • Strong PLC system knowledge and ladder logic programming experience
  • Evaluation of production lines to identify spare part and PM requirements

Additional Information:

Equipment Services (Ticketed): Starting wage based on experience from $39.66 to $41.75 per hour

Equipment Services Technologist (Non-Ticketed): Starting wage based on experience from $35.07 to $41.75 per hour

Honda of Canada Mfg. (HCM) provides a competitive salary structure and starting wage based on previous, related experience. Additionally, HCM provides weekly, monthly, and annual attendance bonuses, equaling a potential additional $1.40 per hour; a Team Achievement Bonus paid two times per year; an industry leading Defined Contribution (DC) pension that includes company contributions and company matching; and a comprehensive benefit plan that provides choice and flexibility with the cost subsidized by company contributions. HCM also provides shift premiums paid at 5% per hour up to $1.70 for afternoon shift, and 10% per hour up to $3.40 for the overnight shift.
