Trafigura Group has an immediate need for a qualified Heavy Duty Mechanic at its Myra Falls
Mine on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Myra Falls Mine is an underground mine operation located 90 km southwest of Campbell River, BC in the picturesque surroundings of
Strathcona Provincial Park. Surrounded by mountains and lakes, the trip to the mine has some of the world’s most impressive views.

Responsibilities

Reporting to a Maintenance Supervisor, Heavy Duty Mechanics play a key role in ensuring the safe and effective operation of underground and surface equipment. More specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Apply preventive maintenance strategies to reduce mechanical downtime.
• Effectively repair and ensure the safe operation of underground and/or surface equipment.
• Keep up to date with new developments in techniques and computing for the maintenance of mobile and stationary equipment.
• Provide input to and feedback on preventive maintenance programs.

Requirements

• BC or Interprovincial Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required
• 3-5 years progressive experience in the maintenance of heavy equipment, mining preferred
• Demonstrated ability to use electronic diagnostic equipment
• Willingness/ability to commute to mine site for daily shifts
• Consent to a pre-employment medical examination that includes a drug & alcohol screen
