Job Description: General Manager

Our business is a fast-growing recycling facility and logistics hub located in downtown Kelowna. We are looking for a hands-on general manager that will have oversight of all aspects of the business with the ability to drive and manage growth while influencing positive results. The successful candidate must be able to direct employees on the prioritization of activities and ensure continued high operational performance. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

Duties/ Requirements of Role:

  • Controlling and monitoring the profit and loss of the company (P&L Statement) as related to the management of revenues and expenses
  • Overlooking all aspects of HR, including:
  • Onboarding and offboarding employee’s
  • Training and development of employee’s
  • Oversight of Scheduling
  • Oversight of payroll
  • Ensuring compliance with all aspects of labor codes and regulations as relevant to the business
  • Other HR activities as required
  • Ensuring the company is compliant with all outside external bodies relevant to the business, including but not limited too:
  • Ministry of Environment
  • Transport Canada
  • BC Labour code
  • Work Safe BC
  • Others as relevant to the business’s needs from time to time
  • Oversight and management of logistics, including but not limited too:
  • Dispatching product onsite and offsite; including arranging the transport of product to and from our facility in Kelowna
  • Route Planning
  • Ensuring all paperwork is completed in accordance with all regulatory bodies (i.e. manifests)
  • Inventory and supplies
  • Ensuring vehicles and equipment are well maintained
  • Management of inventory and stock of new batteries for sale
  • Costing and invoicing of hazardous waste and various metals
  • Management of internal systems/software to ensure they remain relevant to the business and up to date
  • Working with ownership/management to implement strategic vision of the company
  • Supporting and working with all line managers; including accounting/office, warehouse and yard managers.
  • Other duties as outlined by ownership/management from time to time

Qualification and Experience

  • Previous management experience in a similar role would be an asset (Managing 15+ employees)
  • Class 5 license and knowledge of transportation of dangerous goods
  • Computer literacy and ability to learn various forms of software
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule as required by the business from time to time
  • Post-secondary experience (Preferably in business administration) would be an asset but not a requirement
  • Forklift Experience
  • Must be able to lift heavy items
  • Must work well in a team environment as a leader
  • Ability to motivate and create a positive work atmosphere is essential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Renumeration/ Benefits/ Vacation

  • To be negotiated

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $75,000.00-$95,000.00 per year
