As a Experience Ambassador at VCH you will:
  • Provide a welcoming, informative, and respectful presence at healthcare site entrances.
  • Be responsible for greeting and engaging with all individuals accessing the site including patients, employees, deliveries, and contractors, to communicate information about established site access procedures and guidelines in a thoughtful, respectful, and informative manner, and to ensure they are understood and followed.
  • Support the safety of patients and their families, and staff, by modelling and inviting people to practice established infection prevention & control best practices in a friendly and inclusive way.
  • Invite and assist patients and visitors to complete experience surveys at entrance and exit points, as well as liaising with Volunteer Services to provide wayfinding and escort for patient and family accessing services at the site, promoting a welcoming environment and positive experience.
  • Assist the Experience in Care team with other hospitality related initiatives. This work is framed within VCH’s commitments to Indigenous cultural safety, anti-racism, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience
  • Grade 12, and one (1) year's recent related experience in a patient care or customer service environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge & Abilities
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with the others effectively.
  • Demonstrated experience in public-facing service work.
  • Ability to engage with others in a culturally safe and respectful manner with empathy and calm.
  • Ability to effectively use technology, including: Microsoft Word, email, Zoom, tablets and mobile devices.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to complete and maintain VCH educational competencies.
The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
