The Nova Scotia Digital Service (NSDS), a branch of Service Nova Scotia and Internal Services (SNS-IS) is a team within government, and we are putting people first. Your Role & Its Impact


As the Executive Director, Digital Culture, Strategy & Performance, you will be responsible for:


  • Partnering to build digital capability and capacity across the whole of government
  • Creating and leading the Digital and Data Strategies for all of government
  • Partnering to drive the organizational culture change needed to meet government outcomes in the internet-era
  • Collaborating and consulting across government and non-government departments at all levels to provide a robust, integrated strategy aligned with government priorities
  • Conceptualizing and developing guiding principles on how government approaches delivering services in the digital era
  • Defining what good digital services look like and how to deliver those programs and services to the citizens of Nova Scotia
  • Establishing systems to meet mandates and delivery better outcomes
  • Being a leader in fostering a continuous improvement environment

How You Can Make an Impact


  • You will work with the Chief Digital Officer, and the NSDS Executive Team to build empowered, engaged teams of internet-era, servant leaders.
  • Empower teams to use internet-era ways of working, keep a strong focus on delivery priorities, be accountable for delivery, and act swiftly to respond to changing requirements.
  • Work collaboratively to identify opportunities for innovation and increasing value
  • Positively influence and partner with senior strategic partners to develop horizontal, aligned strategies and frameworks that support the province's digital strategy and data goals.
  • Work collaboratively to exchange best practice, develop cross-government strategic direction and deliver excellent user-centered services for the whole of government.
  • Be responsible for the financial position of the service, department, and wider government context, promoting and visibly demonstrating a culture of value for money.

  • Experience in developing and implementing strategies across a complex organization
  • Internet-era practices, and ability to effectively engage with multidisciplinary teams to achieve business/policy outcomes
  • User centered and product management approaches to ensuring the secure delivery of services
  • Understand and navigate the complexity that comes with leading large transformation programs.

Additional Information


While this position is based in Halifax, travel throughout the province will be required periodically.


Pay Grade: EC 16

Salary Range: $5,109.18 - $6,386.46 Bi-Weekly
