WCWP currently operates three retail-branch and warehousing/transportation-hub distribution facilities located in Lethbridge, Brooks, and Medicine Hat, supplying products for mainly industrial and commercial users, but for the walk-in trade as well. WCWP’s head office is located together with the Lethbridge branch.
Title and Authority
Job Title: Driver & Warehouse Labourer
Authority/Reporting: This role reports directly to the Branch Manager. This role has no supervisory or managerial authority and no direct reports.
General Description of the Role
The Driver and Warehouse Labourer is process driven and has a passion for delivering excellence. The ideal candidate has an obsession for details while keeping things simple and is always seeking personal and professional growth. They are organized, resourceful, adaptable and understand when and how to prioritize multiple tasks.
Role Accountabilities
o Provide a high standard of customer service while delivering goods and packages of various sizes to customers, this includes unloading or products and movement to customer use point, followed by reloading the returned product if applicable to the vehicle.
o Complete routes within a normal workday and return to the warehouse upon route completion.
o Continually work to maintain efficient use of facilities to maximize productivity and reduce wait times for customers while ensuring all work is completed.
o Maintain a clean and organized workspace.
o Observe safety regulations and wear required safety attire at all times.
o Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Specific Tasks
o Pull and fill orders from stock, set-up orders for daily shipment, delivery, or pickup.
o Load trucks for delivery; strapping of loads to ensure safe and timely delivery and pickup of goods to and from locations.
o Counting and recording quantities and styles of product delivered and received to ensure accurate paperwork for customer transactions.
o Truck inventory reconciliation and required paperwork.
o Conduct and report pre-trip and post-trip inspections noting and explaining defects or deficiencies to the branch manager.
o Identify need for repairs and/or maintenance to vehicles and ensure the maintenance or repairs are accomplished with minimum disruption to the operation.
o Put away product to correct areas in the store in a timely manner, report all damaged merchandise.
o Assist with annual inventory count.
o Handle walk-in customers for order pickups.
o Train with inside sales to provide coverage.
Skills and Experience/Qualifications
Required skills- you are:
o Fluent in English.
o A good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
o Able to work effectively and productively without close supervision.
o A team player with the ability to work within a diverse work environment.
o Attentive to details and you produce accurate work.
o Punctual and reliable as a worker.
o Proficient with computers generally and the Microsoft Office suite of products, in particular.
o Physically capable of safely lifting 50 pounds, and able to stand for extended hours.
Desirable skills- you may:
o Possess experience with industrial/welding supplies.
o Have experience working on an order desk.
Required experience/qualifications- you have:
o A High school diploma or equivalent.
o A valid Class 3 driver’s license with Q endorsement.
o A clear driving record.
Other
o Some Saturdays required.
o This position works exclusively out of the Brooks office.
o This position requires access to a personal vehicle that may be occasionally used for business purposes.
