The Role:
Rakuten Kobo Inc. is looking for a Content Management Coordinator to join the Content Management team.
The Content Management Coordinator will support publishers, distributors, and KWL authors from onboarding and catalogue building, to metadata and pricing investigations, and new product and territory launches. The primary focus of this role will be Kobo’s global English language eBook catalogue, with many opportunities to work with international publishers and grow the catalogue at large.
The Content Management Coordinator will gather and maintain data for the purpose of reporting on catalogue health and metadata hygiene to inform future development and publisher relations. Daily tasks include the creation of documentation, the management of ticket queues and content investigations.

Key Responsibilities:
Publisher and Distributor Support
  • Support mid-to-small English-language publishers, distributors, and KWL authors with metadata and asset delivery education, pricing and sales rights investigations, and other catalogue issues.
  • Review and analyze recurring issues/trends with publisher catalogues and communicate recommendations based on findings to internal or external stakeholders
Analytics & Reporting
  • Create, track, maintain and analyze weekly/monthly statistics and trends for metadata, content performance, while looking for areas for growth and improvement.
Catalogue Hygiene and Maintenance
  • Perform publisher education and outreach to correct metadata omissions and discrepancies, and apply learnings from analytics and reporting.
  • Track metadata status and maintenance progress.
Cross-functional Support
  • Collaborate with the Vendor Management team and KWL Business team to support author/publisher onboarding, reconfigurations, promotions, and other special projects.
  • Collect and report metadata or asset issues/bugs to Product, R&D, or Web teams and suggest solutions for improvement where applicable. Support investigative process where needed.
  • Support new product or territory launches through author/publisher onboarding and education, catalogue building, etc.
Qualifications
Required:
  • 2+ years experience in publishing industry or similar
  • Knowledge of ONIX, MP3s, publishing standards and/or processes.
  • Ability to define criteria for process and/or tools improvement
  • Excellent organizational skills, strong initiative, and the ability to keep cool under pressure to meet tight deadlines.
  • Advanced experience with Excel.
  • Experience communicating with external clients is preferred but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather, organize, and analyze data.
  • Experience with ticketing system, document sharing platforms, task/project management software (JIRA, Asana) is an asset
  • Strong written and verbal skills, including good judgment on when to get face-to-face over Zoom, quick message over Slack, or email.
  • Ability to work independently with a decentralized team working across borders and time zones
  • Comfortable reaching out to team members with questions or if they foresee issues with project delivery
