About the Position
This position would be working with a digital media specialist, being mentored and coached by an expert in this field. In partnership with this expert, this position will design and create engaging on-brand visual content for social media, digital advertising, website, and other platforms for the Territorial Candidates and CANBDA Youth departments. The purpose of this position is to help define, understand, assess, and cultivate interest in full-time ministry within the Salvation Army through the creative use of social media. It would support and enhance both the Candidates and CANBDA social media content calendar, advise as well as stay on top of social media trends and pitch ideas to increase engagement in both departments. This position provides support in areas of engagement, dissemination of information to internal/external parties regarding both departments.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creation of digital content for animation, film, video, social media, programs and resources
- Work with internal and external partners to create exceptional digital media
- Video editing
- Digital content design
- Manage social platforms + additional brands as needed. (Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, TikTok), including ideation, writing, scheduling, and posting content.
- Monitor and interact on all channels and interpret social analytics.
- Assist with defining and implementing measurable strategies and campaigns to meet digital presence objectives.
- Create and drive social media plans + content calendars, including developing campaigns, managing influencers, and social partnerships for the target audience.
- Participate in brainstorming meetings with other members of the Candidates department.
- Help develop and execute social media marketing campaigns.
- Create a digital marketing plan, social media strategy, identifying strategic weaknesses and making recommendations for improvements.
- Researching social media trends and informing management of changes that are relevant to marketing activities.
- Setting key performance indicators (KPIs) for social media campaigns, such as targets for a certain number of shares or likes and measuring a campaign’s performance against the KPIs
QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
- Completion of high school diploma
- Working toward completion of a university degree in digital marketing or related field
- Up to one (1) year of related experience
- Experience with social media content creation would be considered an asset.
PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:
- Experience in writing and overseeing digital media content creation
- High level of understanding of popular social networks — design, functionality, features, users
- Experience with animation, film, video editing and digital content design
- Experience with content strategies; very high attention to detail
- High level of time management & ability to work under pressure
- Exceptional communication and writing skills

Hours
This is a full-time contract position: 35 hours/week for 12 weeks.
