Scope of the Position

The Wealth Advisor (WA) is a multi-faceted role with the primary focus being asset acquisition and relationship management. The WA will work within a set of assigned branches, providing investors with professional advice and guidance while contributing to the overall branch portfolio. As a senior wealth representative, the WA will provide coaching, leadership and mentorship to licensed bankers and branch staff.


Major Responsibilities

  • Grow a portfolio of wealth clients, driving net sales targets through existing member asset consolidation activities and through acquisition of new members.
  • Manage a profitable portfolio of client relationships ensuring members have full service banking solutions, through referrals, in partnership with the branches.
  • Utilize various tools and software to analyze and identify the needs of the referred members/clients and develop recommendations.
  • Proactively build strong working partnerships with branch teams to facilitate introductions from retail branch staff to existing members/clients with wealth needs and act as a conduit for IIROC referrals.
  • Serve as the “subject matter expert” for credit union members/clients to ensure that their financial planning experience is second to none.
  • Become an integral member of branch sales teams and create value for the branch partners by conducting regular information sessions/seminars.

**Please note that this position will require regular travel between assigned territory branches and to meet at offsite locations with members/clients as necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or mutual funds license
  • Have or working towards Personal Financial Planner (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
  • Must have superior knowledge of the investment industry and products
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in financial planning/investment sales
  • Strong familiarity with financial planning tools/software
  • Post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in Commerce or Business Administration will be considered an asset
  • Proven networking, relationship building and client acquisition skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Superior sales abilities (active listening, identifying business opportunities, influencing & negotiating, asking for the business)
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
  • Commitment to continuous learning (CE credits)

Compensation

Wealth Advisor compensation program is comprised of base salary plus commission.
