Talkatoo is reinventing dictation software by modernizing the experience for veterinary professionals, making it easy to use, and ensuring it’s accessible everywhere. We are a fast-growing, funded startup working with industry-leading partners.

We are looking for a capable veterinary technician or equivalent to join our growing team of veterinary transcriptionists. You will be responsible for transcribing veterinary medical records. Your attention to detail, fast and accurate typing and strong veterinary medical knowledge will make you excel in this position. You must be able to learn and work with a variety of Practice Management Software systems and be comfortable with technology.


Responsibilities


  • Transcribe veterinary medical records accurately and quickly
  • Access various PMS to input and update medical records
  • Communicate effectively with veterinary professionals through phone, video conferencing, email and/or text
  • Share your knowledge of veterinary practice workflow to improve processes


Qualifications


  • Registered or non-registered veterinary technician or equivalent with a minimum of two years working in veterinary clinics in any capacity
  • Experience working with a variety of PMS systems is preferred
  • Varying in-clinic experience is an asset


Core Competencies


  • Fast typing speed of at least 60 words per minute
  • Very high attention to detail
  • Organizational skills
  • Ability to hear and understand speech across a very broad range of speakers
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medicine and terminology including but not limited to anatomy, procedures, diagnoses and drug names
  • Confidence and ability to learn and adapt to new technology (iOS and web-based)
  • Self-starter who can manage themselves
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Able to work with others, a team player

  • Home office in a quiet environment with a computer, keyboard and headset
  • Strong, reliable internet connection
  • iPhone

This is a full-time hourly position with a minimum of 32 hours per week.


We are a remote-first company, with an office in Halifax. We are open to candidates across Canada.


For the purpose of government funding, we require that candidates meet the following requirements:


  • A post-secondary graduate (applicable for internships greater than 6 months in duration)
  • A Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada (no work permits or student visas)
  • Legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
  • Not in receipt of Employment Insurance (EI) benefits (you will have withdrawn from EI benefits prior to the project start date)
