Underwriter I - Alternative Insurance Market Division of the Construction Department.

The Underwriter I will join our strong team of insurance professionals in our dynamic AIM Underwriting Division and will work with brokers, underwriters and claims analysts to provide insurance products and services in a growing market. We will count on you to:

• Review and analyze Commercial General Liability and Umbrella insurance submissions
• Assess exposure and determine rates, terms, and conditions of coverage in accordance with underwriting guidelines
• Negotiate terms and conditions with registered insurance brokers across Canada
• Service current accounts and provide coverage options
• Develop and maintain an awareness of liability claims and exposures
• Maintain an awareness of market conditions and competition

What you need to have:

• Fluency in English is mandatory (written and oral).
• Post-secondary education in insurance, marketing, business administration or related discipline
• Preferably work experience in insurance underwriting or a combination of insurance and related discipline with a focus in a client service, marketing or sales-oriented environment
• Strong computer skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook and Zoom

• Working towards or completion of industry related professional designation such as CIP, CRM
• Exceptional customer service skills in order to build and maintain relationships with internal and external clients
• Strong analytical skills, sound judgment, and high attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Fluency in French will be considered an asset.
