Balodis Inc. is hiring 5 experienced class 1 Truck Drivers to operate long-haul trucks to transport goods and materials over long distances and short inter-urban, urban, provincial, regional and territorial routes.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Operate and drive primarily long-combination vehicle weighing over 4500 kg to transport goods and materials over long distances and short inter-urban routes.
· Plan trip logistics and obtain required documentation to transport goods.
· Inspect, operate and maintain company and customer issued equipment
· Perform pre-trip, enroute and post-trip inspection of vehicle systems, equipment, and accessories such as tires, lights and turning signals, brakes, and cold storage.
· Document and report all safety related equipment defects to the dispatch (when applicable)
· Exercise safe-work practices in all work-related activities (e.g. - using proper material handling equipment)
· Maintain communication with company dispatch office to report daily activity, delays, unscheduled breaks, workplace injuries, motor vehicle collisions and vehicle, cargo, equipment and property loss/damage
· Complete and submit all documentation required for payroll, customer billing, hours of service, vehicle maintenance etc.
· Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
· Administer bills of lading and manually or electronically maintain logbooks.
· Communicate with dispatcher, other drivers and customers using communication devices and on-board computers.
· Always operate within all applicable Provincial and Federal laws
· Complete all safety training required.
· Adhere to Company and customers’ safety policies and standard operating procedures.
Key Requirements
· Document knowledge: Driver logbook, inspection report, (pre-trip, en-route, post-trip), maintenance and repair reports, trip reports, accident or incident reports.
· Computer knowledge: Operate computerized work environment and cellular phone
technologies.
· Essential Skills: Significant use of memory, critical thinking, decision making, problem solving, working with others, oral communication, writing, document use, reading text.
· Type of Travel: Long Haul, Regional, Provincial/territorial, Local, Short Haul. Being away from home for 3-5 days,
· Early morning, Morning, Day, Shift, Night, Evening and weekend work may be required.
· Type of Trucking: Tractor Trailer
· Valid Driver’s License
· Clean Drivers abstract (no greater than 30 days old)
· Provide criminal record check
· Professional in appearance
