We are seeking a dynamic, highly motivated Site Supervisor who demonstrates our values of compassion, accountability, responsiveness and empowerment; to our clients, families and each other.


The Site Supervisor will be working as part of a team providing a positive learning environment that supports children’s emotional, social, cognitive and physical growth and development. Wesley’s Registered Early Childhood Educators care for and observe children each day to understand and foster their interests and provide an engaging and stimulating environment and program.


This position is a unionized, permanent, part-time position. The rate of pay is $20.37 per hour. Wage subsidy and wage enhancement is available in addition to the rate of pay based on criteria and funding available from the City of Hamilton. Location of work and/or program can be changed based on enrollment and/or operational need.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop, plan, promote, implement and evaluate day to day operations of the programs with the support of the Supervisor Early Years and other staff.
  • Accept program registrations, provide program information and orientation for families requiring care and maintain secured child files.
  • Be knowledgeable about and comply with all Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 legislated/licensing requirements and ensure licensing requirements are abided to at all times
  • Implement all required daily, weekly, and monthly procedures, and secure storage of all documentation.
  • Plan and implement programming based on the Ministry of Education’s pedagogy “How Does Learning Happen?”
  • Create and maintain a safe learning environment that is responsive to the interests and needs of the children in the program.
  • Be familiar with and adhere to licensing requirements per the Ministry of Education, Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Provide quality, play-based learning and supervision of all children in the care of Wesley Urban Ministries at all times.
  • Ensure program needs are being met and in compliance with program licensing requirements.
  • Create and develop a monthly menu with rotational items that is diverse in culture and incorporate “Eating Well with Canada’s Food Guide”.
  • Site Supervisor will be shopping once a week for groceries.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What you will bring:


  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education and registration with the College of Early Childhood Educators.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with children from infants to school age, and their families. Experience and sensitivity working with all families including those culturally diverse, LGBTQ, young parents, etc.
  • Two to five years of experience working in a child care setting, and working with parents and with community partners.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable legislation i.e. Child Care and Early Years Act (2014).
  • Current First aid/CPR, Safe Food Handling Certificate, Non Violent Crisis Intervention (N.V.C.I.) training. ECERS, SACERS training and Quest 1(High Five) training an asset. Driver’s license and use of a vehicle required.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate is required to submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination to Human Resources.
