Senior SQL Developer
Job Objective
Management of development, test and production SQL Server databases.- Upgrading, patching and monitoring of SQL Server databases.
- Working with the development team to solve performance issues and push best practices.
- Introducing tooling to help streamline and automate database management and monitoring.
- Providing cover, assistance and oversight of Infrastructure Manager of the PFS network infrastructure including maintenance, planning, support, security and upgrades to local, SaaS and DaaS environments
This is predominantly a business relationship-oriented role and is internal and external client facing so the ability to work effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team is essential. There are currently 115+ live sites with approx. 5000 users and over USD1Tn in fund assets being administered on PFS-PAXUS in over 30 countries.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- 3+ years of experience as a SQL developer T-SQL programming knowledge
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and database architecture.
- Experience running databases with complex OLTP workloads on databases over 500gb.
- Understanding of best practices for database backup, recovery, monitoring, security/encryption and performance.
- This role requires a thorough understanding of SQL Server development (TSQL) and relevant unit testing knowledge, along with suitable experience of the software development lifecycle. C# and .NET related web development knowledge would be helpful but is not essential.
Experience preferred (but not essential if willing to learn):
- Financial services experience
- SQL Server and/or MS Azure qualifications
- Powershell experience
- Experience migrating from on-prem databases to Azure SQL (contained databases)
- Experience running SQL Server on Azure VMs or managing Azure PaaS
- Experience with Azure DevOps, bug tracking tools, JIRA, etc
Job Location
The lob will be initially located at the company’s offices in Isle of Man, permanent 9am-5pm Mon-Fri.
