The Senior Media Relations Consultant is responsible for strategically managing and executing all media activity for London Health Sciences Centre. A master at their craft, they are a seasoned professional with exceptional writing skills, issues management experience, and a proven track record of regional and national story coverage. Acting as a liaison between media and key LHSC spokespeople, the Senior Media Relations Consultant provides strategic support for all hospital media initiatives by creating and/or providing guidance on editorial meetings, media pitches, media kits, media releases and other media-focused initiatives. With strong relationships already established with media representatives at the local, regional, and national levels, this position is responsible for elevating LHSC’s brand through storytelling on the national and international stage.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate you have:

  • Successful completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Policy, Political Science or Public Relations or as acceptable by the Hospital.
  • Minimum seven (7) years experience with a minimum of three (3) years in a more senior level
  • Accredited Business Communicator (ABC), Accredited in Public Relations (APR) preferred
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Solid knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, practices and techniques of strategic communications.
  • Solid understanding of principles, theories, concepts and practices of communications, including media relations, crises communication, internal and stakeholder communications.
  • Expertise in issues and crisis management
  • Proven track record of achieving national media coverage
  • Strong relationships with local, provincial and national media
  • Ability to effectively influence and motivate others
  • Excellent attention to detail/accuracy
  • Excellent time management, organization skills, and ability to multi-task with tight deadlines
  • Expertise in professional communication or public relations writing
  • Fluent in MS Office
  • Photography and videography skills, including editing capabilities
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to the principles of patient and family centered care
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to patient and staff safety at LHSC
  • Demonstrated practice and commitment to LHSC’s Mission, Vision and Values
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis

Immunization Requirements:

  • Successful candidates will be required to complete a health review which includes providing vaccination records or proof of immunity against Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella (Chicken Pox) prior to starting at LHSC.
  • In addition, candidates will need to provide documentation of Tuberculosis Skin testing and a completed COVID vaccine series (two vaccines) prior to starting at LHSC.
