THE OPPORTUNITY

At Scovan’s Drafting Team, our mission is to deliver innovative designs and high quality project deliverables. It’s about looking at things from a different perspective, execution and exceeding client expectations. We have a diverse team of creative and knowledgeable designers that are constantly looking at different ways to do things better – to design better.

We are looking for a dynamic designer/drafter that not only has the technical know-how in design but has the capacity to lead projects and demonstrate best design practices. As a Design Lead, you will work directly with the project team and will be accountable for maintaining project schedule, budget and resources. This is a hands-on role – we’re looking for someone who isn’t afraid to get in the trenches and lead by example.

The role will report directly to the Drafting Manager.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage projects, deadlines, and assign resources accordingly;
  • Monitor project scopes, schedules, and budgets as it pertains to design and drafting;
  • Ensure all drawings and drafting deliverables are prepared in accordance with Scovan Standards and Specifications;
  • Coordinate schedule for paperspace deliverables with Project Manager and Design Team;
  • Schedules and facilitates internal or external model reviews including weekly meetings with drafting teams to discuss drafting deliverables progress or updates;
  • Pursue design and drafting excellence. Be relentless in pursuit of opportunities to automate, optimize and advance productivity and efficiencies that help reduce overall costs and increases the quality of drafting deliverables;
  • Identify potential operational barriers and improve on the reliability of our design and drawings;
  • Provide technical guidance to drafters;
  • Collaborate with project teams, engineering team, electrical team and other project partners/stakeholders in the duration of a project.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of eight (8) years of design and drafting experience;
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, BricsCAD, CADWorx Plant;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software;
  • Hold either a degree, diploma or certificate from an accredited institution;
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software;
  • To take ownership of the results and to work to improve future results;
  • To provide leadership and accountability for the Drafting Project Team;
  • Take initiative, advocate and exemplify teamwork, innovative thinking and problem solving.
