This role will report directly to the President/CEO and be a member of the senior management team

About the Role

  • Labour Relations
    • Direct the negotiation of the Collective Agreement and provide advice to the senior management group on all labour and employment-related matters, including the interpretation and application of and compliance with the Collective Agreement, grievance handling and resolution, discipline and discharge, mediation and arbitration, and workplace investigations and resolutions, while fostering harmonious labour/management relations
  • HR & Employee Relations
    • Negotiate and manage benefits and pension plans; oversee compensation, job evaluation and pay equity.
    • Provide support, coaching and practical guidance in performance management, recruitment, compensation, workforce planning, disability management, organizational policies and employee engagement, finding solutions for a range of human resources issues.
    • Contribute to organizational development, including succession planning and change management.
    • Develop, design and implement HR policies, practices and programs that are consistent with the Collective Agreement and applicable government legislation.
    • Recommend and support operational decisions through the effective analysis of HR data and the HRIS.
  • Leadership & Mentorship
    • Identify and assess training needs that support the agency’s learning objectives and contribute to the development of leadership; design and deliver workshops for managers and staff accordingly.
    • Manage the day-to-day activities and employee-related transactions of the HR team and department budget.
    • Help lead the successful implementation of our Hybrid work strategy across all our offices and departments.
    • Plan and implement equity, diversity and inclusion strategies to support organizational objectives.

About You

  • You bring 10+ years of HR management experience, within a unionized environment. Experience working in a not-for-profit organization is an added bonus!
  • You have the ability to inspire and influence others.
  • Strong knowledge of workplace and employment legislation such as ESA, Health and Safety, AODA and Human Rights is essential.
  • You will have a strong customer service orientation and the ability to deal effectively with a diverse range of people.
  • You have experience managing benefits and pension plans
  • You’re a team players who is excited by change and growth. You are analytical and lead with data. You are a skilled communicator and very comfortable with technology.
