Required:

• College Diploma or University degree in security or related field
• Basic Security Guard Training certificate
• Must hold a valid Ontario Security Licence (submit a copy with resume or application will not be considered)
• Current First Aid/CPR certification
• Valid Certification training in Non-Violent Crisis intervention, de-escalation and crisis management.
• Valid G driver’s license
• Completion of International Association for Safety and Security
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history

Experience:

• Five years’ previous experience in a similar role, preferably in a hospital or health care setting
• Knowledge and experience dealing with those under the Mental Health Act
• Knowledge of Trespassing Act

Skills:

• Demonstrated note taking and report writing skills
• Proven analytical/critical thinking skills
• Exhibits confidence, assertiveness, and control behaviours
• Demonstrated communication skills
• Demonstrated conflict resolution skills
• Experience applying Pinel restraints and models security physical capabilities
• Results oriented work ethic to work independently and undertake tasks needed to accomplish work objectives and deliver quality, consistent and timely results
• Models and promotes core ethical practices and GBGH values with all internal and external stakeholders
• Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history is a requirement of this position.

Assets:

• Bilingual - English and French
• Experience with the Incident Management System 100 (IMS), incident protocols and live event facilitation
• Current experience with complex security technology and access control systems

Hours of Work: Temporary Part Time, scheduled up to 24 hours a week. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, nights and weekends. Shifts and hours may change according to departmental requirements and as per the SEIU collective agreement.

Salary: $26.39-$26.91 an hour
