The Role:

The Restaurant Host is a key member of Ancaster Mill's Front of House Team. As one of the first employees to interact with arriving guests they play an important role in greeting and welcoming them into the Ancaster Mill. The host is a personal representation of the service and overall hospitality of the Ancaster Mill. While guests are waiting to be seated, the host ensures that guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their table.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Maintain the cleanliness of the front entrance, lobby and other guest areas ensuring that they are clean, tidy and ready for guests’ arrival.
  • Warmly greet guests upon their arrival and escort them to their table, being aware to pull out chairs, assist wherever needed.
  • Maintain seating plan, make quick decisions regarding where groups will be seated and suggest timing if a wait is necessary.
  • Provide menus, answer any immediate questions, and introduce guests to their server.
  • Assist with any special needs or accommodations that have been requested. This may include services needed for small children, as well as for individuals with disabilities or food allergies.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency while remaining poised during peak periods while seeking out additional tasks during slower periods
  • Schedule dining reservations for guests over the phone, by email, or in person.
  • Relentlessly pursue the importance of “image”, “attention to detail” and “pride of ownership” to best represent the Pearle Hospitality Brand.
  • Embody a great service culture and create a high level of service standards and excellence.

Experience & Skills

  • Host experience is an asset
  • Open Table experience considered an asset
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Suite
  • Well-developed organization and time management skills
  • A keen eye for detail
