Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) - for our Trafalgar West Residence location in Erin, Ontario.

We seek an experienced RPN with a passion for helping others to join our team (approximately 20 - 40 hours per week), working out of our Erin facility and providing support at our detox center in Limehouse (Neworld) when needed. This position supports our clients and clinical team.

This individual must work well under pressure and perform well in crisis situations.

The RPN position at Trafalgar Addiction Treatment Centres oversees the physical and mental health of all clients enrolled in the program through assessments and collaboration with physicians/clinical teams. The RPN works as a key part of the clinical team, keeps all aspects of the medication areas in order and undertakes blister packing and medication logging with a high degree of attention to detail. The RPN ideally is a charismatic, energetic and flexible person who provides efficient and professional support to all clients.

Director of Nursing Services

Expected Hours:

Three - 5 days per week, will include weekends. 8-12 hr shifts.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Strong understanding of COVID-19 Safety protocols and adherence to social distancing and protective measures required by health professionals
  • Assessing the physical health of all new intakes, which may include taking client vitals and medication reviews.
  • Creating blister packs for clients, dispensing medications, and creating and recording medications in client logs.
  • Dispense and records all client OTC usage.
  • Contact client physicians when medications are running low and book Dr. appointments for refills, illnesses, bloodwork, x-rays etc.
  • Attend to client illnesses and wound management and document incident reports when necessary.
  • Administering client injections and checking diabetic clients’ sugar levels when necessary.
  • Assist with research projects as needed.
  • Ensure all aspects of confidentiality and data protection relating to all aspects of the Centre and its clients are maintained always.
  • Attend clinical, case management and managerial supervision as required.
  • Attend and actively participate in team meetings, team training and other internal team meetings etc.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as implemented by the company
  • Any other duties as required by management

Qualifications:

Education & Experience: 3-5 years in previous RPN role

Valid G Drivers License

Knowledge and working experience in the addictions and mental health field (preferred)

Skills & Abilities:

Adaptable and able to work in a fast-paced environment

Organization and precision in all areas of the job.

Able to multi-task and eye for detail

Effective interpersonal communication skills; specifically with physicians

Ability to work independently when required and in collaboration when necessary

Good written and verbal communication skills, especially concerning reporting

Complete awareness and adherence to confidentiality and privacy

Charismatic, energetic and friendly a personality is considered assets in this role

Required:

RPN Certification in good standing

CPR training

Valid driver's license

Professional Liability Insurance

This position is required to work in a stressful environment often dealing with clients in crisis situations. The ability to function independently and frequently under pressure while managing multiple concurrent duties, including managing emergency situations is an expectation of this job.
