Basic Requirements

  • Certificate of registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO);
  • Minimum 3 months of recent oncology experience;
  • Knowledge of oncology nursing;
  • Knowledge of radiation therapy principles, applications, side effects and overall management of radiation toxicities;
  • Demonstrates the ability to communicate effectively in oral and written formats with patients and members of the multi-disciplinary team;
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess patient and family learning needs and provide appropriate teaching;
  • Possesses superior clinical assessment skills and knowledge of appropriate interventions as they relate to oncology symptom management and radiation-relates toxicities;
  • Demonstrates ability and application of knowledge related to Central Venous Access Devices (CVAD), including care and maintenance;
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in brachytherapy or radiation nursing;
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN);
  • ACLS/LS Certification;
  • C.N.A. - Oncology certification (CON(C));
  • Membership to CANO / ONS;
  • Membership to RNAO;
  • Good computer skills;
  • Proficiency in English and French – oral expression (advanced level) and comprehension (advanced level).
