POSITION: Registered Nurse

UNIT: Emergency Department

STATUS: Temporary Full-Time DDNN Line

START DATE: July 2023 – August 3, 2024

SALARY RANGE: As per ONA salary scale

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Registered Nurse promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with patients, physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families; supervising assigned team members.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Diploma/Degree from a recognized College/University, BScN preferred
• Specialized certifications and courses related to area of specialization as required
• BCLS, ACLS and NRP Certification
• PALS/ENCP Certification
• TNCC/ATLS and CTAS Course
• Basic Cardiac Arrhythmias Certification, Defibrillation Certification
• 15 Lead ECG Interpretation Certification
• Critical Care Course preferred
• CNA Emergency Nursing Certification preferred
• Maternal Newborn Course preferred
• Two years related nursing experience working in acute care setting preferred
• Working knowledge of Cerner software computer applications information system and related peripheral hardware preferred

• High degree of mental effort and analysis

POSITION-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITES AND TASKS:

• Ability to organize, problem solve, critical thinking and decision making.
• Demonstrated application of role in Code situation (ex. Code Blue).
• Communicates with patients, families, physicians, staff and community partners.
• Observing and recording patient behavior. Evaluates patient outcomes.
• Competent operation of medical equipment.
• Performing diagnostic tests within scope of practice
• Safely Administering medications and treatments.

HOURS OF WORK: Ability to work all shifts, weekends and holidays

Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
Contract length: 13 months
