Regional Sales Manager (Medicine Hat - Burdett region)

The Regional Sales Manager (RSM) is responsible for driving sales growth, managing, and developing territory sales managers, and ensuring customer satisfaction within the assigned region. The RSM will work closely with the Corporate Sales Manager, Sales Team, and other departments to achieve company objectives and maximize regional sales performance.

What Does a Regional Sales Manager Do?

  • Sales Leadership
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to achieve sales targets for John Deere equipment within the region.
  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand Western Tractor's customer base.
  • Monitor sales performance, analyze sales data, and provide regular reports to the Corporate Sales Manager.
  • Collaborate with marketing and product teams to develop and promote John Deere products and services that meet regional customer needs.
  • Territory Management
  • Oversee the performance of Territory Sales Managers within the region, ensuring they meet their individual sales targets and contribute to the overall success of the team.
  • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to Territory Sales Managers, helping them grow and develop their skills.
  • Ensure that the sales team is well-equipped with product knowledge and sales techniques to effectively represent Western Tractor and John Deere in the market.
  • Relationship Management
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key customers, dealers, and industry partners within the region.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, addressing customer concerns and ensuring prompt resolution of any issues.
  • Represent Western Tractor and John Deere at trade shows, conferences, and other industry events.
  • Team Development
  • Recruit, train, and retain top talent for the regional sales team.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive training program for new and existing Territory Sales Managers.
  • Foster a positive work environment that encourages collaboration, open communication, and continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Agriculture, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in sales, with at least 2 years in a sales management role.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and CRM software.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel throughout the region as needed.
  • Experience in the agricultural equipment industry, specifically with John Deere products, is preferred.

  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets.
  • Strong understanding of sales strategies, techniques, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of the agricultural equipment industry and John Deere products.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and manage a high-performing sales team.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills to support team members' professional growth.
  • Ability to make informed decisions under pressure and solve problems effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and persuasion abilities.
  • Capacity to analyze sales data and identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Ability to develop and implement strategic plans to achieve regional sales goals.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • This role requires frequent travel within the region to visit customers, dealers, and industry events.
  • Occasional travel to other offices for meetings and training.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet customer needs and attend events.
