The QC Supervisor will be responsible for the overall functions of the QC Laboratory, quality training for employees, and directing QC technicians in duties and projects. Helps to maintain the requirements for food quality, safety, and promotion of a quality culture through leadership, ownership, and accountability.

Responsibilities also include:

1. QC Laboratory

  • Plans, directs and controls the activities related to the QC Lab (eg: maintenance of equipment and production area lab related equipment, supervision of lab activities, etc) and ensures compliance with quality control procedures
  • Issues reports related to Quality Control, and ensures test results and reporting are value added
  • Assesses and responds to complaints lodged by consumers and customers
  • Participate in site continuous improvement initiatives including Apex meetings and RCAs

2. SQF Practitioner

  • Maintains certification
  • Verifies compliance to the system on a yearly basis
  • Participates in SQF Audit

3. Food Safety & Quality Initiatives

  • Ensures the quality of product composition at the different operational phases and recommends the changes required to meet standards
  • Keeps the plant’s QC Manual up to date
  • Participates in the development and implementation of employee Quality related training programs
  • Helps maintain the site HACCP Program including annual reassessment
  • Participates in resolution of nonconformance’s by assisting department supervisors with investigations and following up on corrective actions and determining effectiveness

4. Audits – participate and follow up

  • SQF, CFIA, Customer and 3rd party audits
  • Internal audits to evaluate HACCP & SQF programs
  • Provide corrective actions to respond to non-conformances (root cause analysis, corrective actions, monitoring effectiveness)
  • Performs on the floor audits and documentation checks

Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree in a related science or Diploma in Food Science and Technology Related industry experience is an asset.
  • HACCP training
  • Auditing experience
  • SQF experience preferred
